Welcome to our new webzine. We’re going to be posting new stories erratically. We hope you’ll come back often to read them.
Hell Itself is a magazine for short science fiction, fantasy, and weird horror that no one else would publish. By that we mean that every story we publish has either been rejected many times by the big-name publishers out there, or it’s what we call a “market killer” (a story that was supposed to be published in a magazine or anthology that folded before publishing it). These are good stories, but they’re stories that didn’t quite fit in anywhere else. That means you can expect the unexpected, an eclectic mix of all sorts of stories, styles, and subject matter.
This is a passion project for everyone involved. We’re not making money doing this, and we hope you will respect that and give us the space to squeeze this in when we have free time. We’ve got no fixed publication schedule. We publish stories as we get one we love that we think you’ll love. You can support us by spreading the word about the stories you find here that you love. We don’t have a marketing budget to do that ourselves, so word-of-mouth is how new readers are going to find us.
Similarly, our authors aren’t in this for the money. Our format means we all know that not every story is going to be everyone’s cup of tea. Please respect the writers who are brave enough to publish in Hell Itself by singing the praises of the stories you love, and shutting up about the ones that aren’t for you. Trust us, if it’s published here, someone loved it. Let them have their joy.
We’re excited to have you join us on our new journey. Check back soon to see our first stories.
